I like the ignore command in certain situations. Sometimes it comes in very handy, BUT....I do see it being abused a lot. I've been Pked by someone and tried to talk to them afterward and they were allready ignoring me, and this was at low ranks. Then again I don't see changing it because of the few out there abusing it, and besides if you really want to annoy/talk/rp with someone who's ignoring you..........note them.

But quiet mode stops you from hearing from or talking to anyone. The only reason I can see why someone would want to talk to someone they're ignoring is to taunt and harrass them needlessly.

Exactly what I think, and how I thought it worked anyway. I think ignore should work the same way as quiet, but in a non-global sense, as in you're just blocking one player.

Please remember that quiet mode is irreversible (which the MUD tries to tell your foolish self beforehand). I don't want 20 notes saying "Help! I can't talk now."

You sure? There's times I've typed 'quie' instead of 'que' (short for quest) and it's switched quiet on, and I've always been able to revert back. Unless I'm confusing this with the not/nof thing (typing notell instead of nofollowers). Could swear quiet is reversible though..can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be.

I see ignoring as being totally valid RP, especially if you're RPing a myrek ... I mean an appointed sarcasm supplier. 
Even ignoring someone and continuing to heckle them is valid.
Just act as your character would. RP it. Don't assume that it is personal or OOC.
Generally, if it's driving you up a wall IG, it's probably good RP.
I agree with that when ignoring someone, you shouldn't be able to tell anything them either. And the ignore-toggle-timer sounds absolutely cool. Plus, how many actually know the "deaf"-mode? It's a lot more handy than quiet... (forcing immortal actually teached me that command)
I'm rather suprised how it works when you say "If you have nothing useful to say, be quiet." After saying that, I have only twice ignored someone for continuing the useless sheep. On some cases, the chat even improved to something worth of talking about, instead of all dead quietness.
