post spell casting text

Hey all

Instead of the post spell casting text reading "you can allready see magical auras" (or something).

I think it should read "you can NOW see magical auras".

It's better english is that..

cyall

No.. that's actually worse english. Also, considering some spells say: You now do something something, it would be hard to determine if it was already up or not. I like it how it is, and "You can already see magical auras" is quite english capable to me.

Is that english american or real english???

Already is a word in both dialects.

I'm confused, I'm pretty sure if you see 'You can already see magical auras' means you just wasted mana on a spell of which effects are already on you. And 'You can now see magical auras' means you couldn't before you cast the spell.

Or did I miss something somewhere?

WC

Actually, the spell, if successful and not already up, says what all those types of spells say..."Your eyes tingle".

Yes, but the way you apply it to the sentance is what makes it diferrent.

When you first cast a spell it should (to my mind read "you NOW do whatever".

And if you try to cast it again, THEN, it should read "You ALREADY do whatever".

It is always a gramatical nightmare between the English application of words and and the English/US.

Chayesh is right, and who cares about this? Does it keep you up all night knowing when you cast detect magic when it's ALREADY UP isn't proper Austin Powers english.

ok, didnt know the tingly eye thing was that it worked.

forget what I wrote..

Chayesh is right' date=' and who cares about this? Does it keep you up all night knowing when you cast detect magic when it's ALREADY UP isn't proper Austin Powers english.[/quote']

No, no check again WC...Your old news my friend...and I have once again drifted back into the coma you all call sanity.

Is that english american or real english???

What makes British real English? The fact that they ruled an empire that dried up over the last two hundred plus years? The fact that that island is where a bunch of barbarians managed to muddle together all of their respective brands of gibberish into a language similar to what we speak? Or by real English do you mean proper grammar and such, because let me tell you that particular dialect is as dead as latin.

Given that America is the most powerful English speaking nation in the world, I would say that makes American English real English.

So what if the Brits have been around longer, or the Australians and Africans use different words, none of them are in charge any more.

For a REAL American, the charge of jingoism is a compliment!

Anyway, as to the subject of the thread, if you wanted to convey that someone can already see invisibility/magic/alignment/whatever, the proper way to say it would be to say that you can already see it.

Edit: By the way, I just noticed I seem to have the ability to kill threads like no other. Are people really that terrified to reply to me, or am I just always the last one to any given thread?
