Purchase Applications

Players usually always vote yes. I sent a Justice app way back saying I wanna join because I wanna doggie. Guess what, all yes.

I think it would be great though if there was a notification for the cabal Imm as soon as a clanny hits the requirements. This would nuke the cases when it is simply overlooked that someone is ready.

the imm could have and should have veto'd that.   imms wanted to take control of the cabals and tighten them down....but that's not what happened, they took it over 100% and made the players jump through all kinds of hoops.   You can directly trace the decline of this MUD to two things that happened around a 1-2 year span of themselves.  The MUD took a big hit with the Viri/Bryntryst/Sirant/etc staff left and IMMs took control of cabals, etc.  I started throwing a fit years ago saying exactly what would happen, this game would dwindle to nothing if the staff didn't let up and give the control of the world back to the players.  Thats what this game was meant to be and that vision has been almost utterly destroyed.  Nothing worth a shit gets done in this game unless you appease some immortal.  No one gets in a cabal unless the immortal is paying attention and you've done enough to satisfy them.  This game isnt about, or it shouldn't be about, satisfying immortals for rewards.  But that's exactly what it is.

I think it would help a lot if a char actually makes his cabal Imm aware they want in. (This is not always the case, you'd be astonished how often it is not.) Especially if they seek to apply early, they should state their intentions (the sooner the better), as many do not want to join pre 50.

There's a pinned entrance requirement thread, so if you meet the requirements and do not get a chance to apply, something is odd and you'd better ask on prayer or with a note in game.

This is actually something I experienced as Belderon. I would ask clan members that I'd seen complete quests if they are ready or willing to do the Tribunal Exam and A LOT would flat out say no. Blew my mind.

Some cabals are NOT fun to be in pre 50. I'm not that surprised. Especially cabals you cannot hide your flag in.

its because they want to hit 50 then have time to get their footing THEN join a cabal.

I've been told no by 50s in end game gear.

well that is just crazy.

I personally never need but an hour or two to get to a competitive state once I hit 50, outfit plus some odds and ends.  Speaking of which, getting in early then cabal outfitting is so good for ranking...

I have noticed some people seem to just take forever preparing, preparing, preparing, then they die and get real pissed. lol.

Oh the easy life of a caster/communer! :P

laat 5 are melees

Why would every character want to join a cabal? I've played at least 3 uncaballed 50s that I can recall, some of them joined a clan (for the information and connections), some of them did not.

This may be bc of ic stuff (goals that do not align with the cabal) or ooc stuff (lack of time) or a lack of willingness to do that cabal's duties.

It might even be a support character. Lot of reasons out there.

If a change was made to autoinduct characters into cabals when the requirements were met, I would hope we have the foresight to add it to the Auto list in order to not further diminish character control in an attempt to acquire more. If I belong to a clan, I am doing the clan quests. If I am in a clan, I am in support of my clan members and their goals. Just because I am in your clan does NOT mean (as @Anume stated) I am willing to act in a manner befitting someone who is in that clans cabal. So as we consider changes, lets keep one hand on the reigns of free choice.

I think auto is silly.

You met the req, you visit the cabal guardian, thry give you the option.  Are you ready to rise to the ranks of ?

To bump?

Nah.  This should be in effect, and a better solution too, IMO.

Lastly, we've already discussed that we're going to allow Mortal L's and Mortal E's allow characters to apply.
