The Cataclysm

On Firstday the 1st of Life, 0 BC, ominous clouds appeared on the horizon. The next three months brought nothing but stagnation. Rumors exploded about the fury of the heavens. On the first day of the month of Chaos, Lysenties and Nercuros rose from opposite sides of the sky and began their trek toward alignment. By nightfall, the three moons nearly touched. Shortly before midnight, Lysenties, Nercuros, and Dyphrities completed their alignment. The Lunar Triad was complete.

No records survive of what happened in that moment. A rift into the Nexus of Chaos tore open in the area now known as the Forsaken Lands. Once a lush forest, the land turned to cursed desert in hours. Energies of Chaos lashed out from the Nexus and clashed against the power of Order. Lightning fell like rain. Seas rose and drowned shore villages. The Underdark flooded with hot magma, entombing the races that lived there. The majority of the world's population did not survive the night.

When day broke, the skies looked like molten metal. The ground rumbled and hissed with unnatural gasses. Black lightning arced from the ground into the clouds over the Forsaken Lands, and strange bestial cries echoed from the Dragon Teeth mountains.

The BloodLetting had begun.
