The War of the Demon Malchaeius

609 to 610 PC

In the spring of 609, the Demon Lord Malchaeius gathered his forces to strike down the bastions of Light. His plots had been gathering for years. Every thread of hope and aid had been turned aside. Even the Elders of Warmaster acknowledged the genius of his plan. He sent his demons into the world to join the Savants and hold the Warmasters at bay. Syndicate, allied with the Nexus, turned its eye on Miruvhor and stole Emperor Galvatar Xebonn's armies, capturing the city he had held for ages.

Queen Elise Shaenor of Shasarazade confronted the Demon's forces next. Elves and Knights tried to save the city by disguising Elves in Knight clothing. Malchaeius prevented aid from Rheydin. Hordes of Orcs tore down the gates before anyone was ready. The Queen of the Elves fell before Malchaeius and died in the arms of Branor Tsidkenu, King of Val Miran.

Then Malchaeius struck again. His combined forces assaulted the Castle of the Knights while the Watchers, acting under the Demon's coordination, attacked Val Miran and Justice simultaneously. King Branor had been lured away on a diplomatic mission. With him gone, the Watchers struck. Treants of Eshaine flooded Val Miran and reclaimed it for nature. Malchaeius used the diversion to tear down the Justice Citadel.

At the Castle, the Knights fought the Demon General Vutravikyr. The Oracle Saisha Luinwe had earlier tried to deceive Malchaeius by pretending to betray the Knights. Her ploy gave them information, but also gave the Demon time to plant bugs on her person. When the battle raged, those bugs opened the gates from inside. The demons breached the Castle. In that dark hour, Corim Altierre of the Order of the Crusades returned from centuries of absence. His blade Sefirot cut down Vutravikyr and forced the demonic army to retreat. He vanished again into the Chasm, promising he would always be ready to protect the Knights.

Justice was destroyed. Val Miran was left to the wilderness. Miruvhor fell to the Syndicate. The Castle of the Knights lay in ruins.
