LUNAR TRIAD 'LUNAR TRIAD
General
THE LUNAR TRIAD The Lunar Triad is the name mortals have given to the threefold power of Aabahran's moons. Though each moon has its own methods of worship, omens and place in mortals lives they are not truly separate in the deeper mysteries of the world. Lysenties is the light of life. Nercuros is the weight of balance. Dyphrities is the silence of death. The moons move across the heavens in a measured harmony, with Lysenties completing her course fastest. Nercuros follows slower and the distand Dyphrities takes the longest of all. Their path across the sky is watched by sailors, farmers, priests, druids, witches and scholars who all find different meanings in the same turning sky. To most the Triad marks the changing seasons and tides, but cultures all across the lands see omens, births, deaths, and harvests changed because of the moons position. While a strong Grey Moon stirs the tides and steadies the mind, A strong White and Black Moon brings comfort to the dead and the living respectively. To those who seek older mysteries, the Triad is more than the basic calendar of the heavens. The moons movements are believed to stir the powers of life, balance and death and the flow of magic itself. Some claim the moons signs, while others call them anchors, locks and keys set around Aabahran itself. The alignments of the Triad are rare and often feared, with histories claiming that when White, Grey and Black draw into perfect alignment the barriers of the world grow thin and powers beyond mortal understanding press towards the lands itself. Most dreaded among these alignments is the omen some call the Dark Triad. This is not a fourth moon or a separate power, but an eclipse within the Triad itself. Dyphrities passes into terrible prominence and blackens the harmony of White, Grey and Black. On such nights when this happens swift and perilous dangers are said to unravel. The full truth of the Triad is rarely taught and most mortals simple remember it from the old saying. When White, Grey, and Black agree, the world changes.
